  • The North American Bison

The North American Bison also commonly known as a North American Buffalo, was prolific on the Great Plains during the early 1800's. They were almost rendered extinct during the Indian wars. Less than 100 were left standing by the late 1880's, but thankfully they are making a come back. Their numbers are steadily climbing; however, the availabilty of Bison hides are less available than cowhides. We manage to find them.

  • Lined Bags vs Unlined Bags

Our bags are unlined and made to last! The liner on a "lined" bag will ultimately develop holes and tears over time, and it would be a labor intensive and an expensive endeaver to fix. The bag would have to be completely dismantled and rebuilt. Our bags, on the other hand, will go on and on into the future needing nothing but tokonole treatment on the outside.

  • Tatanka

Some Native American Plain's Tribes called the Bison "Tatanka" meaning Buffalo. They used all parts of the animal for clothing, housing, tools, etc. Since the buffalo is "free-range," meaning roaming free, the hides have lots of scars, bites and injuries from fighting and general rough living. Because of this, the usable parts of the hides are considerably less; however, we use only the Premium parts of the hides for our products.
